A CEO of a company engaged me for a sales workshop and wanted me to motivate his team. He said that due to the pandemic, they all felt uncertain about everything - how the untold expanse of the future in their industry is so unpredictable. They felt overshadowed by the uncertainty.
I told him that the yearning for certainty is understandable. It is in human nature to want things to be predictable and certain. Even mental toughness coaches and international motivational speakers desire certainty. The first thing to do is to come to terms that the pandemic will be prolonged and things will continue to remain fluid.
However, uncertainty should not be confused with indecision. Indecision, and the inaction that comes from it, will be a massive barrier to success and happiness. The best thing to do is to resist the desire for certainty and focus on continually taking action. Try to do a bit better tomorrow than you did today.
Remember, it's the market that is uncertain, not you. Be strong and strive on.
