When we are faced with what seems to be insurmountable challenges - be it at work, in your relationship or on a personal basis - it is quite easy to slide into negative thoughts.
One of the inspirational speakers Singapore has produced in recent times told me that her mind is filled with negativity throughout the day, all the way to bedtime. At work, she faces challenges as a leader. At home, she is taxed by her hyper-active kids. Her relationship seems to be regressing. She sleeps badly, waking up numerous times throughout the night. And then the cycle repeats when she wakes up in the morning. Over and over again.
The conditions in our lives are a result of our mindset. If we want to improve our lives, we must first change our minds. As I told my client, instead of going to bed carrying the burdens of the day, close your eyes and think of 3 things you can be grateful for. Were there any? Of course! Think of simple things like your health, the people who love you and the roof over your head.
And when you wake up in the morning, allow the first thought to be a positive one. One of positive anticipation for the day ahead. Everyday is an opportunity for us to become better, so start with a positive affirmation that will set the tone for the day.
With these simple mental strategies, you will soon find yourself overcoming daily challenges and able to pull through any situation.
