Can we train our minds to be mentally tough? Should we be doing it constantly? As a mental toughness coach, I want to tell you that the answer is a resounding YES.
Our mind is a lot like a muscle. It does not grow automatically. It needs to be trained, and the more training it gets, the tougher, stronger and more resilient it becomes.
Unfortunately, many people fall victim to treating their minds like dumpsters, exposing the mind to mindless crap that entertains and distracts from the rigours of life. Mental health speakers say that one of the key causes of mental problems is constant exposure to negativity.
Instead, aim to toughen the mind daily by practising rituals that promote discipline, focus and gratitude. Bit by bit, the mind toughens up, and grows to be strong and powerful.
